PHILIPPINE UNITED STILL UNBEATEN IN ALL COMPETITION
Even without 5 key players, Philippine United managed a 2-2 draw against Croxley F.C.
For the first time this season, PUFC were behind at half time 0-1. After the break, things got worse, giving another goal away through defensive errors making 0-2 a hard task to come back from having so many regulars out. United had plenty of chances with Richie Caparros and Anielo Mone going close.
It wasn’t a particular great game of football, but the referee did not make matters any better with him being of very poor quality, making bad errors all through the game to the extent of him getting verbal abuse from the PUFC fans.
As usual, United stuck to their task and eventually got the breakthrough that they needed with a well took goal from Michael Cepillo. After that goal, PUFC had new life in them and started to dominate the game throughout. With constant pressure, just 3 minutes from time, United equalized with a goal from top scorer Anielo Mone, who is now top scorer in all divisions.
It could have been a dramatic finish in injury time, with the same player just missing out on the winner. In all, it was a hard fought game with good performances coming from Raymond Tordecilla and Man of the Match, Michael Cepillo.
As you know I am in the Philippines at the moment sorting things out for PUFC, so our Founder, Leo Jensen has forwarded me the match report. I was a little disappointed to have my 100% record broken, but at least we are still unbeaten and hopefully back to winning ways next week.
I asked fellow team member Keith Townsend to step in the hot seat for me until I return, and I’m glad to say he did a very good job from all accounts and will be taking charge in next week’s big cup game. WELL DONE KEITH!!!
Till next week all you Philippine United fans take care and keep the faith.
Yours in football,
Norm Parkin
