PHILIPPINE UNITED START THE NEW YEAR IN GREAT STYLE WITH EMPHATIC WIN
What a great start by Philippine United, thumping Oxhey 6-0 at home and ironically it was the same score when we played them away from home 0-6 a few months ago.
We took control from the kick-off and I must admit Oxhey was quite hard to break down, even though we played some good approach work, but the class showed eventually, with Raymond Tordicella latching on to a great ball from Renan Ramos and took it neatly home for the opening goal. We really started piling on the pressure and Raymond Tordicella once again put the ball in the net after good approach play to make it 2-0.
It remained 2-0 at half time and it should have been more, especially when top scorer Anielo Mone missed a penalty right on half time.
We started just where we left off, hitting them from both wings and we went 3-0 up with Anielo Mone making up for his earlier miss. Shortly after, he added another with a cool finish, making the score 4-0 and completed his hat-trick, taking the scoreline to 5-0.
With our twin strikers playing so well, it had to have a fitting ending. Raymond Tordicella completing his hat-trick making it a 6-0 victory. May I say being the coach, that it does not come any better than when your twin strikers get a hat-trick each.
Eddie Guevarra played well again and so did Renan Ramos, and obviously the two hat-trick boys, Raymond Tordicella and Anielo Mone, but the star of the show was without doubt Michael Cepillo, who was brilliant in both halves, and was named MAN of the MATCH.
Well, PUFC did not disappoint all you loyal fans again and hopefully not in the near future.
Next week, we play Harpenden F.C. so I will see you all next week.
Remember as always, keep the faith!
Yours in Football,
Norm Parkin
